Izquierda Unida affirms that a “stable and consolidated” coalition government has been achieved
The federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida, Alberto Garzón, has stated that the content and way in which the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2021 have been approved in Parliament, along with a series of important regulations such as the recent Euthanasia Law , two fundamental conclusions can be drawn, that “there is a stable and consolidated coalition government” and the “radical failure of the right in its strategy to put an end to it.” This morning Garzón opened the telematic meeting of the Federal Coordinator of IU - the highest executive management body - with the presentation of his Political Report.
He has taken stock of 2020, which he has described as “difficult”, but from which important positive lessons can also be drawn. Among them, he especially highlighted “that we were right AOL Email List when we opted for participation in the confluence of Unidas Podemos, in participation in the coalition government and in having stood firm in the face of attacks from the right.” The Minister of Consumer Affairs outlined these ideas throughout an intervention that could be followed openly through the organization's usual channels. In relation to the Government, he normally pointed out that both it and the formations that comprise it “do not have a homogeneity of thought”, but “we do have articulated common work” that leads to “the dialogue growing and being positive.
He downplayed unjustified external criticism and indicated that “the political culture of this country must understand that this is normal.” He insisted that as this first year of the Executive's life has progressed, not only has its “greater consolidation and stability” been demonstrated , but that the commitment to it from within Unidas Podemos “is positive and viable” and, no less important, “that it is flatly false that Unidas Podemos brought instability.” This has been the case “after a year marked by the pandemic and with a tremendously violent opposition in discursive terms that has encouraged anti-democratic positions. In this framework, he was optimistic about the effect that European funds to combat the economic, social and health effects of Covid-19 "are now available" will have for Spain, after the blockade carried out by the European extreme right through Poland.
